Every booking gets a styling call, but this is the short version I wish every client read first: wear what you already love, in fabrics with texture, in colours that sit well with your skin — and leave the logos at home.
Fabric beats fashion
Linen, knit, denim, wool — anything with weave catches light and gives the image depth. Shiny synthetics bounce light back flat and crease oddly. When in doubt, touch it: if it feels good, it photographs well.
Three colours that never miss
Warm neutrals (cream, camel, rust), deep earth (olive, ochre, espresso) and one soft statement (dusty rose, powder blue). Couples: coordinate tones, don't match outfits — think same palette, different pieces.
Fit, movement, layers
Clothes that move make pictures that move. A coat to catch the wind, sleeves to push up, layers to shed between setups. Bring two options per look — the camera decides quickly which one wins.
The quick checklist
- Steam, don't iron flat — creases read louder on camera than in the mirror.
- Clean shoes matter — full-length frames always include them.
- Bring the meaningful thing — the guitar, the dog, the heirloom jacket. Story beats style.
